The castle of Modave

The castle dates back to the 17th century and is built on a rocky peak. The estate is classified as a Major Heritage of Wallonia and is currently owned by Vivaqua, a water distribution company.

Inside the castle, each of the twenty rooms can be visited and is richly decorated and furnished. You can admire the remarkable ceilings, stucco works by Jean-Christian Hansche, sculptures, paintings, Brussels tapestries, XVIIIth century as well as a faithful reproduction of the hydraulic wheel constructed in 1667 by Rennequin Sualem which served as a model for the machine of Marly.

Build 60 meters above the valley of the Hoyoux, the castle has an exceptional view of the surrounding nature, a nature reserve of 450 hectares.
