The STAM museum in Ghent

The city museum of Ghent, or short STAM is the ideal starting point to discover Ghent as a cultural ambassador with a rich history. In a modern setting, the museum shows you the past and future of the city.

The museum started in 2010 and is inside the old Bijloke abbey. The architecture of the building combines the old stone abbey with new construction of steel and glass. In the corridors of the abbey, the history and expansion of the city are told in an interactive way with more than 300 artifacts that each represent a part of that history. Very interesting are the comparisons of the old city maps with new air and satellite pictures.
