Pancakes - Crêpes

In the north part of Belgium, the Flemish-speaking part, pancakes are called Pannenkoeken, in Brussels and the south of Belgium they are called crêpes, in French. Al over the country Pannenkoeken or crêpes is mostly eaten as an afternoon snack. Traditionally they are served with syrup or brown sugar, sometimes ice cream is added. There are specialized tearooms that serve them all day long.

So next time when you visit Belgium and you have an afternoon hunger? step into one of the many pancake houses. It is needless to say that Pannenkoeken is the number one threat at children's party's, together with Brussels waffles.
